Relevancy: You're Either In Or You're Out

Google has made it clear that relevant and engaging websites will rank higher than those less relevant. So how do you make your website more relevant? Axandra's free newsletter has a great article about this topic.

First, the context of your keywords are important. The article says that the same keyword can have more than one meaning and that using a keyword can have a different intent. Nowadays, search engines have to not only look for the keywords you use to search, but also your intent and meaning you attach to the keyword.

Next, you have to prove to Google that you are relevant. Simply having your keywords on your web page is not enough. To be relevant, you must also have multiple pages that relate to the topic and the more specific each page, the better. Also, use other words that describe the topic as well. 

Keywords are important to creating relevancy, but you must go above and beyond. Using the keywords correctly on your web pages will increase rankings. Optimize as many web pages as you can and tailor them to your keywords.
