Creating a Strong SEO Campaign: Back to the Basics

Tina Fronk
February 28, 2013

New year, new tactics, right? Not necessarily. Let's review the tried and true methods that have led to successful SEO campaigns.

A strong campaign can lead to better rankings on major search engines, increase visitors to your website and higher conversion rates for your web pages. If you master the basics, you can build a strong foundation for your future SEO tactics.

First, you need to evaluate your current situation-what's working, what's not? You need to identify any pitfalls and weaknesses in your SEO campaign. A great starting point is your web pages. Are they being indexed by Google and other search engines? If not, you need to fix that immediately.

Also, analyze your website traffic. What are visitors doing on your website; are they buying or just browsing? Visitor activity is a valuable piece of information that can help you modify your strategies.

Next, you must have a proper plan to overcome the obstacles mentioned above. A great way to get started is to set goals! Make realistic, daily, weekly and monthly goals. Track and monitor your goals to see how they are helping (or hurting) your campaign.

Also, take a look at your keywords. Are they working or not? What about your web pages? Web pages need to be engaging and of value to your visitor. If they aren't, then they aren't doing their job and you may actually lose visitors.

Lastly, it is important to implement your plan. Follow through and constantly monitor and change your SEO tactics. If you follow these tips, your SEO campaign will be solid.

How To: Brand Advocates

Tina Fronk
February 18, 2012

So, by now every marketer knows the basics of social media marketing and content marketing. However, some marketers are missing out on a major marketing opportunity. What is it, you may ask? Your customers!

Think about it; your satisfied customers will probably tell others about the great product or service your business provided. This word-of-mouth marketing does a lot of great things for your business. Now, lets learn how to turn your happy customers into brand advocates.

A great marketing tool, your customers can produce quality content for you for FREE. To utilize your customers, you need to find out which ones are advocates. Ask them! Use social media networks like Twitter and Facebook and blogs to see how customers feel about your brand. Those with positive feedback are your advocates.

Next, you need to make it easy for your customers to talk about your brand. Give them access to post on your Facebook and Twitter pages; let them tweet at you; promote videos and blogs. There are numerous ways to boost customer engagement. Make sure you let the public see any reviews or testimonials you've received from happy customers!

Track the brand advocates and learn about them. If you interact and respond to your fans (and your critics), you will surely help them promote your business and services. Building Links: Personal and Passionate

Tina Fronk
January 30, 2013

Let's take a minute and think about the links we post-always something we find amusing, interesting or useful, right? The same applies to your business. No one is going to link to your website if your content is boring and emotionless. How do we fix this problem? Check it out:

First, all companies have something they are passionate about-being able to put this passion into words will help attract links to your website. A great way to inject some life into your content is to post clients' testimonials, which are usually filled with emotion and are relatable.

Next, personify your business. People relate to people, not a corporation or business. Spice up your 'About Us' section and highlight your employees and owners. Let your customers know that there's someone behind the business.

You can also find your lost passion by re-reading your website. How did you try to previously convey your passion to your audience and did you succeed? Is your message exciting and engaging or forgettable? Your passion may be hidden somewhere in your website and you just need to coax it out.

Do you remember how excited you were when you first started your business? Use that excitement to revamp your old content and make your new content valuable (and linkable) to your customers.

If you can display your passion to your audience in an engaging and meaningful way, you can start to build good links. Check out how these companies highlighted their passions and built valuable links:

Mobile Marketing: The Next Big Thing?

Tina Fronk
January 17, 2013

Let's talk mobile!

At first, mobile advertising was off to a rocky start, but with each passing day, it gets more popular and successful. Why has this happened? Several factors contribute to the success of mobile marketing, such as personalization and constant access.

The company 4Info hopes to revolutionize mobile marketing via new targeting abilities through their Adhaven platform. Their platform allows for one-to-one marketing, which creates personalized and individualized marketing. Time Jenkins, the CEO of 4Info, explains how the platform works:

"In mobile it is tremendously difficult to know what audience you’re reaching. The AdHaven platform uses household address (or more specifically, the household segmentation information associated with the household associated with the device), as a sort of “cookie” for mobile devices. This allows 4INFO to deliver extremely precise, durable, yet anonymous targeting. For the advertiser, it means reaching the buyers you want to reach, with less waste, and therefore much greater ROI."
This revolutionary program allows marketers to reach individuals instead of a mass audience. This type of technology utilizes life events, upselling, retargeting and segmentation.

For example, there are lists that document specific life events (such as birthdays, anniversaries, marriages) and these life events often spur goods and services purchases. One-to-one marketing would allow you to target these individuals at specific life events.

Also, this technology could help create advertising based on segmentation. After looking through your customer database, you can create personas that are based on demographics. Then, you can segment these personas and advertise to each individual group.

Although the technology is new, it may be the next big thing in mobile marketing. What do you think of it? Check out the full article: One-to-One Marketing

SEO For 2013

Tina Fronk
December 27, 2012

The new year is fast approaching! Are you prepared to face 2013 with new and exciting SEO tactics? With the new year comes new tactics and updates. Don't get left behind by using outdated or bad SEO methods. We're going to discuss ten SEO tactics that have got to go this year.

First off, stop using automatic article generators. There are way better ways to build permanent back links. Also, most back links acquired through article sites such as EzineArticles are not the high quality links you want. Just like all other aspects of SEO, acquiring and maintaining high quality back links takes time and effort; don't take a shortcut.

Everyone knows its important to to share information and get your name out there. However, publishing and posting just to do so (or to build links) is a waste of time and resources. It is better to post meaningful and engaging content less often than it is to constantly post irrelevant and useless information. Again, invest your time and effort into valuable content that will build quality links.

Expand your horizons! Many people get wrapped up in what's going on with Google and forget to check other sources and statistics. If you look at your analytics, you may notice that Google is not responsible for all of your traffic. You need to worry about other sites as well, not just Google.

Another mistake of some SEO tactics is ignoring design. Design has a huge impact on first impressions and affects how others view your business. You need to make an effort to create a functional website that users can navigate and enjoy. Hire either an in-house or third party designer and SEO strategist so they can help you create an optimized website that is functional and engaging to your customers.

With the new year comes better SEO tactics. Are you ready? Hopefully, these tips will guide you to your success in 2013!

First, Twitter is a great place for research! You can see the most up-to-date news about your industry. You can also find out what the current hot topics are in your industry. This information is valuable, because it helps you reach your followers and others in the same field.

Twitter also allows you to feel out your competition. You can follow your competitors to see what they're tweeting about and how they're interacting with their customers and followers.

7 SEO Tips to Jumpstart Success

Tina Fronk
November 29, 2012

In my last blog post we discussed a strategic plan and its importance. The plan lays out the groundwork for your SEO goals and outlines your business plan. What are your SEO goals? Regardless of what they are, these seven tips will guide you to success!

Forbes contributor, Gyro, recently published an article about these seven tips that will help your SEO campaign. First, Gyro strongly encourages everyone to include SEO plans in your strategic planning process. It's much easier to build up your business and website with SEO from the beginning instead of trying to integrate SEO after your website is done.

Next, Gyro notes the importance of URLs. When recreating your website and company, many are temped to change the URLs. This may seem like a good idea, but Gyro warns that this will greatly affect your rankings and links that currently exist. Your current URLs have value that cannot easily be recreated in a short amount of time. Also, rankings and links to your current URLs will be lost if you change your URLs. Carefully consider the pros and cons if you do decide to change them.

Don't forget about your title tags! It seems that title tags are often overlooked, but they hold a lot of influence. Title tags should be clear and concise, so users are tempted to click. Once you find a title tag you like, make sure to test and retest it. Which tags work best for you? High click-through-rates (CTRs) indicate more successful tags. Title tags and CTR are something you should definitely invest in for your business.

SEO for businesses is a large undertaking with an even bigger pay out, if done correctly. Following these tips will definitely point you in the right direction for web success! For the full article, check it out: Forbes SEO Tips
