John Mueller On Your Rankings

Has your website been hit with penalties? Numerous websites were affected by Google's updates over the last several months and have not completely recovered. Is there any good news? Google's John Mueller explains how penalties, even after removed, can still affect your rankings and how to avoid the effects of penalties.

If your website has been penalized, look into why. If you fix the problem, Google will lift the penalty. You must take action and clean up your website. It not only makes it function better and give it better credibility, but a clean sweep can help your rankings on Google.

Mueller notes that a lifted penalty does not result in higher rankings. Mueller says that this happens either because your previous high rankings were unjustified or because other factors account for a larger portion of your ranking position.

Unjustified rankings are due to unnatural back links, so if you don't have other good links, you won't get your high ranking back. Also, high rankings are achieved through numerous factors, not just back links. Each factor influences the position of your website, so it won't necessarily return to its high ranking after a penalty is lifted.

To achieve high rankings, stick to natural back links and white-hat SEO tactics. Make sure to use quality content and keep your website updated.
